Ice Cream: Cherry Chocolate Chip

This ice-cream was entirely momentum based. What I mean by that is that I was on a roll making ice-cream (5 batches in an afternoon!) and when the strawberry ice-cream came out so fantastically I started searching for more fruit that was hanging out in the fridge to use in a similar fashion. When I came across the cherries in the crisper drawer my mind immediately went to the chocolate chips in the cupboard. Let’s just say, my mind knew what it was doing here.

Cherry Chocolate Chip Ice-cream
Ingredients

  • 2/14 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1 cup sugar (I used evaporated cane juice)
  • 1 1/4 cup milk (I used 2%)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions

  • Put the first four ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour the ingredients into your ice-cream maker and churn according to the manufacturers instructions until smooth and creamy. About 30 minutes.
  • Before turning off the machine stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Enjoy right out of the machine or freeze for later.
