Ugly picture, I know, but I am in love with watermelon sorbet. It is to me, in some ways, the essence of summer. It’s light, it’s fruity; it’s refreshing; it’s thirst quenching; and it’s sweet. Sorbets are light in part because they have no dairy in them. Although, homemade sorbets need a little help since they have so much water in them you run the risk of having it come out of the freezer as a block of ice. Commercial sorbets have to rely on corn syrup to solve this problem. Since I am morally opposed to using HFCS I, instead, throw in some vodka as edible “anti-freeze”. Not only can’t you taste it at all it’s such a small amount that you don’t really need to worry about feeding it to the kids.
Love vodka as edible anti-freeze…nice!
