Folks, my friends Harry and Taylor own a fantastic store in Brooklyn called, The Brooklyn Kitchen. It’s an amazing place with everything you could want for your kitchen. (The salt box I bought there is a must have for my kitchen and when it was accidentally broken a few years ago they graciously brought me a new one that I can’t live without!)
Over the years they’ve expanded and now have an impressive array of products, classes, foods, and a butcher shop called The Meat Hook. They do all of this while raising an adorable daughter and generally being awesome.
They are launching an expanded program to bring NYC public school classes into their cooking classroom to learn about food sourcing, butchering, and cooking. In an era where something like 90% of American children have eaten fast food in the past 7 days* this type of opportunity is even more important than ever.
Right now they are raising money to support this program and you can reach their support page by clicking this link HERE to take you to their kickstarter.com fund raising page. Support them if you can!
* This isn’t an exact statistic so don’t quote me, but it’s close. I hear something on the radio about it last fall, I just can’t find the original data to be precise.
That’s a topic I feel very passionate about…anything that will help improve children’s eating habits is awesome! (In fact, I wish I could go back in time and have an intervention with myself.)
