Who doesn’t love a chocolate milkshake? That’s right, nobody. And it’s my go-to item for breakfasts on the run and getting something vitamin packed into my kids either in the morning as we rush around getting ready to leave for school/work or if it’s been a hectic day and I know they need a vitamin packed snack. Hopefully, you’ve probably caught on by now that I’m not talking about an actual ice-cream and chocolate syrup laden milkshake.
My kids have been tricked into thinking that the recipe below is, in fact, a chocolate milkshake. And I’ve engaged in this deceit intentionally to make them think that they are getting a treat, when in fact they are getting something vitamin packed, if not possibly, actually healthy. They’ve encountered the “real thing” plenty of times, but this is their at home go-to milkshake.
Of course, it’s not just for them. When I’m trying to lose a few pounds, and have actually become motivated to do something about it, it’s a great filling breakfast. One of these at 8am on the drive to work can last me a while and get me through to lunch most days. It’s about 280 calories, 1 gram of fat (if you use skim milk), 17.5 grams of protein, oh and it’s frothy, and delicious too.
Chocolate Milk Shake
8-10 oz lowfat milk
1 packet Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast
1 banana, frozen
Put it all in a blender and puree until it’s smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
